small works on paper

These works were created with cold wax and oil paint. They are typical of my working practice.

For me painting is a process where the mind dialogues with the paint. I begin with marks on the surface, and a thought– sometimes easily defined, sometimes utterly subconscious. Then, the discussion begins — with the hand and the eye as moderators. Over the course of the painting the content and the painted surface engage in a constant dialogue until enough has been said.
